Alamosa County: Treasurer's Deed Guide
A step-by-step process for investors to acquire a Treasurer's Deed in Alamosa County, Colorado.
Because you don't have the physical certificate, you'll need to reconstitute proof of your lien and coordinate with the county.
1. Contact Alamosa County Treasurer's office
Call (719) 589-3626 or email treasurer@alamosacounty.org
Explain:
"I am a tax lien investor. I hold a lien on parcel [parcel ID], sale ID [sale ID] in Alamosa. I did not receive a physical certificate. Can you provide me with a certified copy of the certificate of purchase or otherwise confirm I am lawful holder?"
2. Key Questions to Ask:
- Whether a certificate was issued/mailed to you (when and to what address)
- Whether they can issue a duplicate or certified copy of the certificate
- What their internal records show for your name, address, and certificate number
- Whether they have an "endorsement list" and whether your lien appears on it
- What is the redemption status of that parcel (i.e., whether the lien has been redeemed)
3. Obtain County's Official Lien Endorsement
Because Alamosa posts "lien endorsement letters" listing active liens, check if your lien is included. If not, the county may assert it no longer recognizes it.
Document Proof of Purchase
Use your purchase record from the auction site. It can serve as supporting evidence. Assemble all emails, bid confirmations, and invoices.
